About me

I am a recent graduate of Clarkson University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. I've always had a passion for understanding how things work and solving problems. My Idea of fun is designing and then fabricating an engine or taking apart a car to modify or fix it. I love the myriad problems that present themselves when I'm making something. So if you drop by my house, you’ll often find me building or fixing. It could be anything from rebuilding a motor to installing plumbing in my shop. I always have something in the works.

My work experience began in an auto repair shop where I worked during my last three years of high school. More recently, I had a summer job commissioning HVAC systems, and an industrial engineering internship at Shapeways, a 3-D printing manufacturing company.

I am a diligent worker who is always seeking a challenging environment with plenty of opportunities for problem solving. I am actively pursuing a job where I will be able to build on my mechanical engineering skills and learn from leaders in the industry. In my spare time, I enjoy fly-fishing, kiteboarding, and backpacking.

Projects

Engineering Projects

While pursuing my degree at Clarkson University, I performed a chemical compositional analysis of weld beads joining carbon to stainless steel and also created a Rope Climbing Device for a class design challenge. For my senior design project, I designed and fabricated a Compressed Air Motor. While working at Shapeways, I constructed a Down Draft Table to relieve a bottleneck in the production process. I also developed a Powder Containment Solution for transferring the powder media between mixer and storage drums.

Creative Projects

In the summer of 2012, I built myself a custom Fishing Boat from an aluminum flat-bottomed skiff (only spending $15 on materials). For my sister’s wedding (May 2013), I conceptualized and created a Magnetic Painting as a way of presenting guests’ well-wishes/advice for the bride and groom. My simplest, but favorite, invention is The Shelby Door Closer, which allows my dog to enter my apartment and then shuts the door behind him.

Carpentry Projects

Carpentry has always been a passion of mine, and I enjoy helping out my friends and family. Projects have included an addition to a Lakeside Dock, a Kiteboarding Closet, Adirondack Chairs and a Wooden Row Boat.
